FAQ
Why does Belvra make only one product?
Because one good product, used properly, does more than a shelf of average ones. The Mud Mask handles the purifying step of a routine: it clears congestion, balances oil and leaves skin comfortable. Everything else in your routine can stay exactly as it is.
Where does the Multani Mitti come from?
Multani Mitti is Fuller's Earth, a clay that has been used on skin in India far longer than the modern skincare aisle has existed. Ours comes from Rajasthan. It is cleaned and milled fine before blending, so what reaches the jar is smooth clay with the grit taken out.
How does it clean pores without drying my skin out?
Most clay masks strip because they dry into a hard crust that keeps pulling moisture long after the useful work is done. We blend the clay with honey, aloe, glycerin and olive squalane, so the layer stays flexible while the clay lifts oil and grime out of pores. You rinse it off before it ever reaches the flaky stage.
Is it suitable for sensitive skin?
The formula is mild and the kaolin softens the clay's pull, so combination and sensitive skin generally do well with it. If your skin is very dry, use it on the T-zone only. As with anything new, patch-test on your inner arm first and go by how your skin responds.
How often should I use it?
Twice a week suits most skin. If yours is oily or congested, three times a week is fine. Drier skin does better with once a week, or T-zone only. Evenings work best, after cleansing.
Should I let it dry until it cracks?
No, and this is the most common clay-mask mistake. The mask does its work while it is still slightly tacky. Once it dries hard and cracks, it has moved on to pulling moisture out of your skin, which is where the tight feeling comes from. Rinse at ten to fifteen minutes.
Can I use it alongside retinol or acid exfoliants?
Yes, just not stacked on the same evening. On mask nights, skip strong acids and retinoids and follow with a plain moisturiser instead. Keep your actives for the nights in between.
How should I store it?
Keep the jar somewhere cool and dry with the lid closed, and use a spatula rather than wet fingers so nothing extra ends up in it. Used twice a week, 50 g works out to roughly twenty applications. Check the carton for batch and best-before dates.
